I first met Mr Robinson (as we called him then) when he was a history teacher fresh out of college at Redstone in the the 1970s. He was only a few years older than us but he became more than just a teacher to me and my mates. He was a mentor and a great friend and his love of cricket became mine when we played for Redhill CC. He was my captain as well as my teacher and the life skills he taught us all stood me in good stead for my life ahead. He loved cricket but was also a lover of Newcastle United and was proud of his roots. Sadly we lost touch when I moved to Wales and subsequently Australia but the lessons he taught me both on and off the sporting field stayed with me all my life. RIP Mr Robinson a great man
